SRT Training in Vandalia News Article

Discussion:

Attached is a recent news article about recent training conducted by the Region 9/11 SRT in Vandalia.

If you are in need of a highly trained and well equipped Special Response Team for a search or arrest warrant where there is a high risk potential (weapons, resistance, or destruction of evidence) or barricaded suspect(s) please call:

Team Commander Scott Burge 618-231-3879

Assistant Team Commander Blaine Uhls 618-322-4488

Northwest Central Dispatch (Orange Pocket Card #1-847-590-3500)  When calling NWCD you MUST specify a request for the ILEAS Region 9/11 WMD SRT Team. The dispatchers at NWCD must look at a different screen for a team callout otherwise they will look for and notify a department swat team.

If you have any questions about making a callout feel free to call Commander's Burge or Uhls.  They will be happy to discuss the procedure and what they have to offer.

Sincerely,

 J Chris Tanner

Monthly STARCOM21 Radio Test

Discussion:

Greetings Chiefs, Sheriffs, Commanders, and ILEAS Contacts

I would like to invite all of you to participate in the StarCom21 radio tests conducted by our local EMA and ESDA directors. These tests are conducted the first Tuesday of each month at 1030 hrs. Not all agencies possess a STARCOM21 radio. Your 911 point of contact, Sheriff’s Department, or EMA Director should have access to one.

My agencies consist of all of IEMA Region 9 and Douglas and Edgar Counties in Region 7. The test is conducted through each IEMA region alphabetically by county. Your agency will not be called if you have not participated in this radio test in the past. At the end of the test all of those agencies not automatically called will be given an opportunity to respond to the test. Simply respond by identifying your agency name. The next month and in all succeeding months, your agency will be automatically called and you will have the opportunity respond and test your radio.

As always, there is no fee or charge for the use of your StarCom21 radio in these monthly tests, inter agency training or in the event of a critical incident. Agencies responding to a critical incident, as well as your ILEAS Regional Planning Coordinator, will be in contact with your EMA and ESDA directors and your agency through the use of the Starcom21 communications system.   Therefore it is very important that we all familiarize ourselves with the use of this valuable resource.

Set your radio to Zone AA and 9B or 7b in Region 7. To assist you in achieving these settings ILEAS has provided simple Quick Start Guides on the ILEAS home page. Open the Communications link near the top of the page. Identify the StarCom21 radio that you possess and open that Quick Start guide.

If your department, local fire agencies and EMA units would prefer hands on training, please contact me or our ILEAS StarCom21 communications liaison Russ Gentry at rlgentry@ileas.org and ILEAS will endeavor to provide you with free technical assistance.

Again, the StarCom21 radio system is an integral part of our ILEAS statewide mutual aid system. It will bring us all closer together in our joint response to critical incidents within our state.

Any questions call or email and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Discussion:

While checking the FLETC site I came across this resource guide that seems to cover almost all areas of law enforcement.  Hope you find it useful.
