ILEAS seeking Applicants for Special Team Manager

The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS), a grant funded public agency, is seeking a full time candidate for the position of Special Teams Manager.  ILEAS administers federal and state public safety grants for Law Enforcement mutual aid involving over 900 agencies in Illinois.  The largest share of those grant funds are used for the formation, equipping, training and maintenance of multiple special response teams that are staged across the state.  The Special Teams Manager is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Special Response Teams (WMD SRT), Mobile Field Force units (MFF), and interacts extensively with local Explosive and Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams.

This position requires an individual capable of multi-tasking a number of different duties including the application of special weapons and tactics, modern methods of civil disturbance intervention, fiscal controls, strategic and tactical planning, and grant management. Strong leadership ability is necessary for developing, coaching and supporting law enforcement officers and supervisors who come together from various member agencies.

Desired qualifications include 10 years or more of progressively responsible service in an Illinois Law Enforcement agency with at least 5 years experience in a command position.  Firsthand experience with grant application, oversight and reporting requirements is essential.  A broad background in emergency preparedness and experience with planning and operations.  A strong understanding and support for law enforcement mutual aid systems in Illinois.

This position is funded through a Federal Department of Homeland Security grant program.  ILEAS does not offer any employment benefits beyond salary, workman’s compensation, unemployment insurance and social security withholdings per state and federal employment law.  Likewise, the nature of ILEAS funding means that continued employment is directly related to annual renewal of budgetary funds and may be terminated with short notice.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to ILEAS Chief of Staff Larry Evans at lgevans@ileas.org by 12 August, 2016.  A copy of the full job description including qualifications can be found below.
