In addition to classroom instruction, the training uses numerous practical exercises to create a realistic training environment in active shooter scenarios, requiring students to use the knowledge and tools taught throughout the course. Topics covered during the classroom instruction include the evolution of active shooter incidents, planning and implementing appropriate response measures to stop a perpetrator in order to protect innocent lives, and techniques for entry and clearing. The program will also briefly address medical concerns often encountered during an active shooter incident.
