Submitted by mwatson on Mon, 09/20/2021 - 11:50am Event Info Date: Thursday, February 17, 2022 - 8:00am to 4:00pmDescription: This program was developed with the intent of providing law enforcement and prosecutors with the knowledge and skills to successfully use the proper Warnings to Motorists and remove impaired drivers from Illinois’ roadways. Additionally, they will be provided with a case law update to help them navigate their way through DUI courts. This class will instruct officers on the 5 most commonly used Warnings to Motorists re: the Illinois implied consent law. Officers will be able to recognize which Warning to read depending on the facts presented. Officers will understand how to utilize the Cannabis DUI Warning to Motorist and appreciate the differences between it and a standard DUI Warning to Motorist. Instruction will also include how to articulate drug impairment versus alcohol impairment on the witness stand, how to amend sworn reports, and how to assist the Prosecutor in the courtroom with effective testimony during the summary suspension hearings to avoid having the suspension rescinded.
