ILEAS Chief of Staff Position Open

The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) will be accepting resumes to select a new Chief of Staff.  ILEAS administers federal and state public safety grants for law enforcement mutual aid involving 900 agencies in Illinois. As an organization, ILEAS employs well over 50 full and part time staff and training cadre members across the state. The Chief of Staff serves as an assistant to the Executive Director and as the director of ILEAS human resources. The position requires broad experience and education in public sector management, administration, employment laws and processes, emergency management, budgeting, public relations and problem solving.  The Chief of Staff will serve as the Executive Director in his absence, and must be fully capable of supporting the vision, policies and intentions of the Executive Director and the ILEAS Governing Board.

The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of progressively responsible service in an Illinois law enforcement agency with at least 5 years in a senior command position, extensive experience with public sector human resource responsibilities and broad experience in emergency planning and operations.  A full understanding of the ILEAS Mission and enthusiasm to serve the mutual aid needs of law enforcement in Illinois is mandatory. A leadership position in a major law enforcement mutual aid organization is particularly desirable. The office location for this position is at the ILEAS Training Center in Urbana, IL.  

Annual salary and benefits assigned to this position:

  • Full Time Salary -  $80,000 annually
  • Paid time off: 168 hours

  • Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Travel Reimbursement: Same as for the State of Illinois Employees for authorized travel.
