The Drones as First Responders Act Reporting Form is open until April 1, 2024

According to the Illilnois Criminal Justice Information Authority, The Drones as First Responders Act reporting form is now open. It will remain open from March 1 – April 1, 2024. Please use the link below to report drone usage.

In the next reporting period, you will be sharing information on drone ownership and use from June 16, 2023 to March 31, 2024. You will also need to upload your agency’s current policy regarding drone usage. In order to make sure this information is accurate, even if your agency did not own a drone during SFY 2024 please complete the survey by following the link below.

In accordance with the new Drones as First Responders Act [Public Act 103-0101], each year on July 1 the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is mandated to publish on its publicly available website the following:

  • every law enforcement agency reporting drone ownership,
  • the number of drones owned by an agency,
  • the number of times a drone was used including
    • the date of use
    • the time of use
    • reason for use
    • location of use
    • whether video was recorded, and
    • whether the video is designated for retention for training purposes.
  • a copy of the agency’s latest policy concerning drones as of April 1 of the current year.
