On June 16, 2020, President Trump issued Executive Order 13929 entitled, "Safe Policing for Safe Communities." As a result, the US Attorney General designated organizations that will serve as independent credentialing bodies in each State. In Illinois the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police has been designated as the sole credentialing organization. Certification is required to receive any Department of Justice discretionary funds. ILEAS has been asked by the IL. Association of Chiefs of Police to increase awareness through the Illinois law enforcement community about this process. More information can be found at this link.
