The course will introduce specific teaching methods applicable to adult learners, performance evaluations using standardized rating procedures, techniques for remedial training, and legal issues pertinent to recruit training. This model originated in the San Jose, California Police Department in 1972 and has been emulated across the country by municipal and county law enforcement agencies. The course will be conducted by Officer Jeremy Hale and Officer Colby Wright from the Urbana Police Department. Both instructors have completed the 40-hour FTO Master Trainer Course conducted through Applied Police Training and Certification (APTAC) out of Duncan, Oklahoma. They have extensive experience as field training officers.
