Pat Carey was the Assistant Chief of the Glenview Police Department and the Chief of Libertyville PD prior to starting with ILEAS as an Regional Planning Coordinator (RPC) for the Lake and Northern Cook County area in 2010. In 2012, he was promoted to be the first Chief of Staff. Up to that point, all ILEAS staff were contractors. Pat singlehandedly managed the transition of approximately 30 contractors to employees. That involved writing job descriptions, making and managing job offers, developing a salary schedule, insurance, workers' compensation and all the myriad of details involved with that process. Pat retired from ILEAS in February of 2013. His impact on ILEAS was immeasurable and is still being felt today.
Besides his administrative prowess, Pat was a warm, funny and personable individual. He was a joy to work with. The ILEAS family was shocked by his passing. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family in this time of grief.
