Since October 1, 2017, ILEAS has partnered with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to provide NARCAN to first responders. Over the course of the program, ILEAS has been awarded a total of $3,881,869.00. This funding has resulted in over 76,500 doses of Narcan given out to over 670 agencies.
The current grant period concluded on September 30, 2025. Originally designed as a four-year initiative, the program was extended for an additional four years, making this the final year of an eight-year effort. At this time, ILEAS no longer has any NARCAN remaining in inventory.
The future of this grant's funding remains uncertain. Illinois has submitted an application to continue this valuable program to the federal government; that application is currently pending. We will notify our membership if there are any new developments.
