ILEAS and IL. Department of Public Health to Partner on Opioid Grant

ILEAS and the IL Department of Public Health are partnering on a grant entitled, "Empowering and Equipping Law Enforcement and Communities in Rural Illinois to Reduce Opioid Overdose."  The goal of the grant is to equip every squad car in 18 specific rural counties in Downstate Illinois with naloxone, a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.  The grant will also provide for training, follow up care, referrals and care coordination in the targeted counties.  Other agencies involved are the IL Department of Human Services Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Heartland Human Services, Bethany Place and the Illinois Broadcasters' Association.  For more information, see this IDPH media release and http://dph.illinois.gov/naloxone.
