On Saturday, August 17, a large contingent of ILEAS officers were sworn in by Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling so they could began helping to secure the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
This group of officers numbered 253 from 113 different Illinois law enforcement agencies.
These officers filled various security roles, allowing Chicago police to focus on patrolling neighborhoods citywide.
Beyond the sworn officers, ILEAS support staff were also on site, assisting with planning, communications, and other roles.
The entire team of officers and ILEAS staff returned home on Friday, August 23, at the conclusion of the convention.
