Less Lethal Alternatives Grant - Awards Announced

After receiving and scoring 404 applications for less lethal devices, ILEAS is excited to announce the agencies receiving funding.

223 municipal, sheriffs and special district agencies throughout the State of Illinois were selected to receive an award.  All applicants will be notified of their award status through their ILEAS portal.  Agencies selected will be sent additional information regarding the next steps and a recipient agreement which must be completed within 45 days to accept the award funds.

All applications were well received.  A total of more than $32 million worth of requests were submitted.  ILEAS plans to document these needs and petition the State to continue funding this program.  The mission of providing less lethal alternatives to law enforcement is extremely important and we appreciate the participation of every agency that applied.

We would also like to thank the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA), the Illinois Chief’s Association, the Sheriff’s Association, and the subject matter experts who assisted with grading the applications.  We could not have done this without these partnerships.
