Naloxone Grant – Equipping Police and Fire to Fight the Opioid Epidemic

Due to new funding from the State of Illinois, ILEAS is renewing its efforts to distribute naloxone across the state as of summer 2026.  Currently, the Illinois Department of Public Health has entered into an agreement with ILEAS to continue providing free nasal naloxone through June 30, 2027.

Beyond these state efforts, the Illinois Department of Public Health has also applied for the federal First Responders – Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act grant, which has funded naloxone distribution through ILEAS for the past eight years.  If IDPH is awarded this federal grant, it will provide additional funding from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027, to supply free nasal naloxone to police and fire agencies in all 102 Illinois counties.

In the meantime, state resources through IDPH are currently available.  Please contact ILEAS to review eligibility and coordinate delivery.
