On August 28, 2025, ILEAS hosted an open house to celebrate a recently completed $3 million dollar renovation to portions of the facility located at 1701 E. Main Street, Urbana, Illinois.  Public safety officials from across the area representing both state and local agencies attended the event.  In addition, various elected officials attended the event, including Urbana Mayor DeShawn Williams, Champaign County Board member Jeff Wilson, Illinois State Representative Brandun Schweizer, and Illinois State Senator Paul Faraci.

During the ceremony, ILEAS Executive Director Larry Evans and retired ILEAS Executive Director Jim Page honored the efforts of the late Illinois State Senator Scott Bennett, who was integral in obtaining the necessary funding for the project.  The remodel touched a variety of areas, including a lab classroom, space for tactical training with movable walls, renewal of the shipping & receiving area, refurbishment and expansion of the parking lot and renovation of the outdoor courtyard space.

ILEAS leases the space from Champaign County. This most recent work compliments the original 2007-2008 transformation from unused nursing home complex to the facility today.  The ILEAS training center is host to year round activities involving all disciplines of first responders.  Local and regional organizations in need of meeting and educational classrooms, as well as breakout areas, routinely work with ILEAS.  The new upgrades will help ILEAS continue to meet their needs and expectations.
