Jan Mirikitani leads the class in group discussions on topics such as communication assessment, customer service, confidentiality, public complaints, coaching, officer reports and more. The goal is to get supervisors to consistently commit to their department’s missions for public safety and to develop their subordinates to achieve those outcomes.

It is also about understanding their role in building community trust. First-line supervisors have come from the ranks but must now embody community and department goals bigger than their friendships with other officers. The training focuses on the supervisor’s communications skills and commitment to officer wellness & morale.
