Both the original (2003) ILEAS mutual aid agreement and the current (2014) Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement (LEMAA) require the Governing Board to develop a mutual aid plan. Section 3.a.2 of the LEMAA states (in part) “The Governing Board shall cause to be promulgated a Plan of Operation for the giving and receiving of Mutual Aid under the provisions of the LEMAA,,,,,,” There was a formal plan developed in 2003. However, it has not been changed since. The ILEAS staff have recently reviewed and updated that plan with revisions that make it more current. Member agencies will not notice any change in operation as the changes reflect the current practices. Click here for the newly updated plan.
